Chapter 119: Chapter 119 Noah reveals the truth ALORA In my rage, I had thought an abortion was what I needed. I had thought an abortion would perhaps prevent having a miserable future with Caden. But after having time to think about it, think about everything, everything Caden’s done for me. How he had always proven his love not just through words but actions. How happy he had been that I was carrying his child. How delicate he had treated me even before I fell pregnant. It just didn’t make sense that he could cheat on me. Especially with Ellie. He had always shown no interest in Ellie. I suddenly wanted to hear him out. I knew hearing him out might absolutely crush me but I needed to know how it happened. I needed to know how he could cheat on me. I gave him a call to tell him I wanted to meet up. “Hello.” I began. “I want to see you. At you at your company?” I asked, going straight to the point. “It’s me, Alora.”
That was Mason’s voice. I frowned. “Caden drank to stupor last night. He said he didn’t want to go to his house so I took him to mine.” “Is he awake now?” “Not yet. But you can come by to see him. Alora, I heard what happened and I know you’re upset and disappointed. You have every right to feel that way but please hear him out, he’s told me what happened and I don’t think it makes any sense. I’ve seen Caden in a drunk state a couple of times and he still wouldn’t fall for any random woman’s charm because of that. I think there’s something wrong somewhere.” Mason explained.
By the time I got to Mason’s house. Caden had come over and the haggardness of his look tore at me. I shook my head. I shouldn’t feel pity for him. He had potentially cheated on me. “I’m giving you a chance to explain now. So tell me the truth. How did it happen?” I added, seriously. He swallowed and started to talk. He told me how he had just wanted to have a few glasses of wine. I had been away that night to my mother’s place. That was all he pretty much remembered and when he woke up, he was naked in bed with Ellie, there were finger marks on his chest and Ellie had said he had taken advantage of her. “So you don’t remember anything at all about bedding her?” I asked. He shook his head. “Like...you...on top of her, inserting...” I paused, unable to complete that. Both of us look purely uncomfortable talking about him bedding Ellie. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner about it?” . Tears filled his eyes and he lowered his head. “I didn’t want to lose you. I was scared you’d leave.” I recalled that period. How he had been. He had been crestfallen but he said it was because of work. Now that I knew the truth, it wasn’t work. It was what had happened with Ellie. He had been tormented.
Just how drunk could he be that he couldn’t remember if he did it with her or not? “Do you sometimes forget things that happened to you when you’re drunk?” I asked. “A few times. But I sometimes have fragments of those memories. That was what Mason said he finds odd. That I do not recall, even a little bit of me sleeping with her. I don’t know what to think anymore. I...I just don’t think Ellie would lie about something this serious.” It dawned on me that he really didn’t know how truly nasty Ellie was. “You might’ve done it with her, you might not have. But I think the next step now is to confirm if her child is really yours. If it really happened that night, I think the pregnancy is old enough for a DNA testing. You should go confirm that, that will play a bigger role in determining what happens to us and our child.” He moved closer to me. “I’m so sorry for causing you pain, Alora. I’m so sorry for making you cry. You don’t deserve to be stressed out right now and it’s killing to know I...” I looked away from him, not wanting to be swayed by the pain in his eyes. I still wasn’t sure how life was going to be from now on. “If that child is yours, it’ll be completely over between us.” I informed him. “Also, I’ll come with you two to the hospital. You do not know how bitchy Ellie can get. I want this DNA testing conducted as early as today so I can prepare myself for whatever result it’d be.” “I’m sorry for putting you through this, Alora.” I couldn’t exactly blame him. He didn’t intentionally cheat on me. But if Ellie was really carrying his child, I would not be able to bring myself to be with him.
Caden and I headed to his house in silence. None of us spoke. I knew he wanted to speak to me. He tried to a couple of times but his guilt shot him up. I was starting to feel sorry for him right now. It was clear that he was hurting too. When we got closer to the gate, we saw a young man waving and trying to stop the car. “Who’s that?” I asked Caden. “I don’t know him.” Caden slowed down a bit and the man ran up to the window. “Mr Ford, I’m Noah Bannerman. Ellie’s best friend. There’s something you urgently need to know.” I frowned.
Caden pulled over and got out of the car. I got down too because my curiosity was piqued. The man who had introduced himself as Noah looked shocked to see me. “You two are still together. I thought she had succeeded in separating the two of you.” My frown deepened and I moved closer to Caden. “What are you talking about?” He sighed, heavily. “I know I shouldn’t have agreed to help her carry out her crazy plan from the start. But I can’t bear to watch this plan go on anymore to the point of watching someone father a child that isn’t his.” “What?!” Caden and I let out at the same time. “You two might not know me but I know a lot of you. That night, you didn’t sleep with Ellie. She had put something in your wine to make you weak but even at that, she couldn’t get you to have sex with her so she had to make it look like you did by undressing you and giving you marks that showed she was resisted against sleeping with you. She told me to get her pregnant so she could pin it on you. That was what happened. The father of her unborn child is me.” My fist clenched. “I know you might not believe me or must be wondering why I’m telling the truth and why I’m betraying my friendship to Ellie. I wasn’t in full support of this plan of hers from the start and I thought I could get her to change her mind. But she was hell bent of separating you two and I can’t live with that. You two deserve to know the truth.” Caden walked closer to Noah and said, his voice laced with emotions. “Thank you.”
