Chapter 156: _The Truth Will Come Out Kyren’s POV
It was time for him to make a broadcast that would spread far and wide throughout the continent. He decided to make the transmission live from his throne room, standing below the steps leading to his throne, his arms behind his back. "Lunaria has been hoping for peace talks between Arcadia and the Dark Lands. Just like the Alpha king pointed out before... whatever happened in his live broadcast seconds ago." Kyren continued his speech, raising his chin as he stared at the holographic screen hovering in front of him. Standing several metres in front of him were Elian and Farrell, the former having a tense expression. Kyren’s eyes lingered on his little flame before he focused on the holographic screen again. "But peace is nothing but a pipe dream at this point. I’m a man of few words." He placed his right hand on his chest, his eyes brewing with a storm. "The mysterious organisation known as the Dark Hand is another threat to the stability of my domain that I will cull. Regardless of who’s backing them." The last line was one directed at the Alpha King. He hadn’t forgotten about the sovereign of Lunaria sponsoring the Dark Hand. And the continent had witnessed the broadcast from the Alpha king where his Luna Queen was hit with a laser beam. Something dark was brewing in Lunaria—but right now his focus was on Arcadia.

With that, he ended the broadcast, clapping his hands once and locking his eyes on Elian.
"How did I do?" He grinned wolfishly, tilting his head at his mate and his commander.
His little flame gave an awkward smile, a perfect indicator that something was bothering him. As for his commander, he smiled broadly.
"It was perfect, my Lord." Farrell nodded, giving a thumbs-up. "Sharp, concise but simple to the core. I’m sure the Arcadian high Matron and whoever is running the Dark Hand will be quaking in their boots."
Kyren merely nodded at him, walking straight to Elian. Once he got to him, he grabbed his hand, causing the latter to flinch.
"What’s up with you?" Kyren squinted, ignoring the look Farrell gave him. "Let me guess... worried about whatever’s happening in Lunaria?"
Elian swallowed hard, looking away from Kyren at first. But his violet eyes soon softened with something akin to guilt.
"You saw the broadcast from Lunaria." Elian began, his voice low. "The Luna Queen was hit by that laser blast. She’s my mate’s mother, Kyren."
Kyren arched his brow, unshaken. "One of your mates, yes. I... understand your pain."
Elian’s eyes shook with an uncertainty that gnawed oddly under Kyren’s skin.
He hated seeing his little flame in this mood.
"I’m sure Lunaria technology will be more than enough to heal whatever injury she got from that blast." Kyren placed his right hand on his shoulder, leaning close to his ear. "If I were you... I’d focus more on the possibility of a traitor close to the Alpha King’s circle."
Elian’s brows furrowed into a deep frown as Kyren shifted away from him, crimson eyes flicking to Farrell.
The commander easily knew he was no longer needed here and cleared his throat awkwardly before bowing.
"I’ll follow up with anything the public has to say about your broadcast. And also get word on if Arcadia makes any new moves."
Kyren barely nodded, keeping his focus on Elian who seemed confused.
After Farrell turned and walked out of the throne room, closing the large black doors behind him, Kyren’s smile widened slightly.
"You’re confused about what I said?" He asked Elian, turning his back to him.
His eyes landed on his throne, looming over the rest of the large throne room like a herald of his power.
Elian stuttered before making a coherent sentence behind him. "The facts we know so far are that your father might somehow be the leader of the Dark Hand. And that the same Dark hand sent an assassin and an umbra beast after me."
Kyren raised a finger without looking back. "Don’t forget your Alpha King sponsoring the cursed organisation. And then the witch who tried attacking you when we were still in Lunaria earlier today. Can’t you see, Elian?"
He finally turned slowly, tilting his head at his little flame. He’s been thinking about all this for a while and was finally coming to a conclusion.
"The Luna Queen was the first person to find out about the Alpha King’s secret sponsorship of the Dark Hand. It’s no coincidence that she was attacked tonight." Kyren took a couple of steps toward Elian, drawing his words.
"Neither is it a coincidence that you were attacked by that witch in the palace grounds. The Lunarian security system isn’t that easy to just... pass through and do as you wish."
Elian’s eyes lit up with understanding just then. "So you’re saying the Alpha King... might be responsible for bringing in the spies in his own palace? That’s—"
"Not far-fetched." Kyren shook his head, rubbing his jaw. "But I’m thinking a little bigger. What if the Alpha king is complacent? Under the control of someone hiding within the palace? A higher up close enough to manipulate events for the Dark Hand?"
Elian paused, blinking with a frown.
"A higher up like who?"
Kyren raised his head, staring at the large glass ceiling. The night was streaked with moonlight, although the sky was still the signature red colour.
"Now that is what I’m not sure of." Kyren finally remarked, shaking his head. "But I have a feeling I’m close. What I don’t understand is why you’re a part of this equation."
He trailed his eyes to Elian again but this time, his gaze was inquisitive.
The latter stiffened but tried his best to remain composed, almost like he didn’t have any secrets.
But he did, and Kyren knew he did.
He just didn’t know what those secrets were.
"Anyway, ready your mind for anything, little flame." Kyren walked toward his throne, his crimson cloak trailing behind him. "Something tells me the truth will come sooner rather than later. And it wouldn’t be pretty."
