Chapter 82: Chapter 82 A divorce *ALORA* After crying my eyes out for a while, I became mad at myself for crying. Why the heck was I crying? It was already a fact that we were only temporarily married. He wasn’t even the one I was supposed to be temporarily married to. My groom stood me up. He had to come in as replacement. Sure we had sex a couple of times. But it was just sex. I didn’t want to admit it but a part of me was actually hoping for something more. He had literally told me he only saw Ellie as a sister. But he was hanging out with her? And possibly kissing or having sex with her. The thought of him having sex with Ellie made my chest feel so tight. What happened to the strong independent woman who didn’t need a man. I can’t believe I was crying about him again, after so many years. Did I learn nothing before? I couldn’t exactly say he used me because I also wanted the sex and I enjoyed it. But it can’t happen again. I do not care if the public would be disappointed but I was giving this marriage one more week. After one more week, I was getting divorced and continuing my drama-free life. I didn’t need him! He was still the same old Caden. Nothing changed and I wasn’t going to get hurt a second time. ********** The following morning, I got dressed for work, when I walked into the dining room, he was already seated having dinner. Ignoring him, I sat down as well and began to eat. He set aside the iPad in his hand and greeted. “Good morning.” “Morning.” I replied, nonchalantly. There was another few minutes of silence. “Are you mad about something?” He suddenly stared. I glanced at him. “Do I have something to be mad about?” “You know, yesterday, you texted me to ask if I was going to be home early. Are you upset I came home late?” “If you come home early or late, it is none of my business.” I stood up, grabbed my bag and left the dining room. I wasn’t going to let him shake me up, emotionally again. In fact, just as I left his house, I stopped by the courthouse to get the divorce papers. I was going to present it to him after a week and tell him to sign. This would be over. He could go back to his playboy life and I’d go back to my normal peaceful life. ***************** *CADEN* “I don’t think I can stay away from her, keeping my distance from Alora is hard. I just want to be around her all the time.” I said to Ellie that evening. We were sitting at the rock chair at the garden. “It’s only been one day, Caden. I thought you said you’d do anything to make her yours.” “But isn’t there another way? I think she’s even mad at me for coming home late that night. I was trying not to seem too into her and replied with one word but I feel she’s upset about it.” “Of course not. Why didn’t you tell me about that? I was beginning to wonder why she seemed so bothered. So it was because of that. That means you’re making progress already.” I stared at her, surprised. “Did she tell you anything?” “Yes, she told me that she was missing your presence yesterday.” Joy filled my heart. “Really?” Ellie then sighed. “I don’t want to crush your hope or anything but is Alora a player?” I frowned. “Player?” “Yes. She seemed to be involved with more than one man. I heard her calling someone yesterday. It wasn’t you because she said another name. She also talked about getting stood up, you mentioned she was supposed to marry someone else, right?” Was Alora still in touch with that punk, Damon? “Yes. Damon.” “Yes, that was his name. She even said she was going to meet up with him, while I tried to talk about how you’d be a perfect husband for her, she just said she wasn’t interested in being with one man for life.” My teeth clenched. I didn’t see Alora as the kind of woman who would be messing around with different men. At the very least, I thought I was the only one she was currently sleeping with. ************ Ellie had told me not to ask Alora about it when she got home. She didn’t want Alora to know that she was telling on her to me. But I couldn’t hold back. I needed to know if she was still in touch with Damon or any other man. As soon as she walked into her bedroom, I barged in. “Can you knock next time?” She asked, looking pissed. Had she been so upset with me lately because of him? “Did you meet with Damon?” I asked, curiously. “Are you following me now? Did you tell Hanks and Jerry to report to you about everyone I meet?” My heart fell. She had really met with him.
