Chapter 76: Chapter 76 Her tips *CADEN*
“Good evening, Caden.” Ellie said as she walked in.
I grinned.”Do you need something?”
“I was bored and wondering if you’d like to hang out.” She said as she moved closer to my desk.
I glanced at the wall cock.”It’s late. Shouldn’t you be in bed or something?”
She suddenly looked offended. “I’m not a freaking child that has a curfew or something.”
I laughed.”Sorry.”
“I’m twenty-one now.” She informed me.
“Well, then I’m sorry, Miss Adult.”
She laughed.”Yeah, I’m an adult, a full grown adult.” She insisted.
I nodded.”But adults do need to sleep too.”
“Why aren’t you asleep?” She asked me.
“I got some work to do.”
“I know you’re an hard worker but you should also know when to rest. To be honest, I was quite surprised to read about you on the news. Your success is a huge inspiration to many, including me.”
I stared at her, touched by the compliment.
“Thank you. And while I do want to obtain greater heights, I do take some rest from time to time. Take some rest, and also have fun, especially on my honeymoon.”
I suddenly thought about those moments in Santorini.
Watching the sunset with Alora had been priceless.
“Your marriage came as a shocking news though. I didn’t think your type was a top actress.” Ellie let out.
“I actually met her in college. We dated briefly, I screwed things up and now; here we are.”I said with a sigh.
Ellie walked over to the shelve.
“Alora seems like a sweet person. I am a huge fan of hers and I never knew I’d get to meet her in person. It might’ve been a short time since I’ve been back, but I really like hanging out with her.” Ellie said.
“Yeah, she’s very sweet.” I agreed.
I vaguely thought about how bothered Alora was about Ellie, it seems they were getting along now.
Ellie turned to face me.
“She told me something different though. While you’re speaking as if your marriage to her is real, she told me the opposite. She said she was only temporarily married to you. She told me about a deal that you two had or something. Now I’m confused, are you two not really married?”
Those words instantly weakened my spirit.
Alora told Ellie we weren’t truly married?
Even if that was a fact, I thought I was gradually changing her mind.
It seems she still saw this as a temporary arrangement.
Sighing, I admitted.”Yeah, we’re not truly married. We’re only to stay married, maybe for a month or two.”
I stared at the files on my table with a heavy heart. But then an idea struck me.
Ellie was a woman now. Perhaps, she could give me some tips.
I looked up at her to find her smiling.
“What’s funny?”
She quickly shook her head. “What do you mean?”
“You were smiling?”
“I...I just thought about something...a book I was reading...”
“Well, I need you to be serious right now. Although Alora and I agreed to only be temporarily married but that’s not what I want. I do not ever want to divorce her. Hell, I’ve been yearning to be in her presence for so many years. I...I love her.”
“Why...why are you telling me this?” Ellie asked, so quietly that I had to strained to hear.
“I was wondering if you had any tips. Since you’re close to her now, maybe you could put in some good words for me and you know, tell her about how I’d make a perfect husband. I really want her to be completely mine. I’d do anything to make her mine. Or should I just go up to her when she comes home and tell her how I feel...”
“No!” She cut in, sharply. “You absolutely cannot do that.”
“Why?”
“Think about it, at the moment, she currently feels nothing for you, all she wants is for this marriage to end. In fact, she is looking for an excuse to end it so if you tell her your feelings for her, she’ll immediately find you burdensome and would want to end this marriage, immediately.”
My heart fell.”You think so?”
“I know so. You have to wait. Telling her about your feelings now would jeopardize your chances with her.”
“So what do you suggest?”
“I think you need to take things slow.”
I exhaled.”I feel like I’ve taken things slow enough.”
“And that is why you need to have more patience even now, if not, all your efforts would be in vain and you’d end up heartbroken and without her. What I suggest is that, for now, do not make it too obvious that you love her until you’re sure of her feelings for you. Do not be available for her every time she needs you. If you do it that way, she’d start missing your presence. Then me, on the other hand, each time I hang out with her, I’m going to always talk about you and how you two look so good together and how you’ll be a great husband to her and great father to your unborn kids.”
Well, that sounded like it could work.
“You really think this could work?”
“Trust me, some people called me the matchmaker in college.”
“Then I’m counting on you.”
“Let’s take a selfie to seal the start of this matchmaking process.” She let out, excitedly.
I smiled and briefly posed for her camera.
“Oh, I’m going to have so much fun getting you two to become a real couple. I can’t wait.” Ellie cheered.
I couldn’t wait as well.
