Chapter 175: _Makes Unravelling You Fun Elian’s POV
"The Omega Ascension... What?" Kyren repeated with a confused blink, tilting his head at Elian despite their proximity. Suddenly the cold touch of his armour against Elian’s skin felt awfully judgemental. That and his crimson eyes locked squarely on him. "Elian?" Kyren called out to him, his voice soft as he grabbed his right hand. Elian’s heart might’ve skipped a beat at that moment but he stayed alert, maintaining eye contact with Kyren as he pressed his hand on his chest. "Are you feeling alright?" Kyren finally asked without accusation. Just pure concern—which oddly enough only made Elian more embarrassed with himself. [Ooop... As if we didn’t see this coming days ago.] ’See what’s coming?’ Elian’s jaw tightened although he kept a broad smile when he stared at Kyren. "Of... Of course, I’m feeling okay. I feel great, in fact... Well, other than the fact that I feel like shit for using you and the others to complete my missions." Kyren’s other hand slowly slid to Elian’s back, grounding him softly the more he spoke. When Elian noticed the growing scrutiny from Kyren, he didn’t find it warm. He found it overwhelming.
"The pressure chamber increases the gravity within it to... Tremendous amounts." Kyren began with a wry smirk. "Far too much for the body of an—" "Of an Omega?" Elian couldn’t stand being stared at like a crazy person anymore and slipped out of Kyren’s hold. "Yeah, I know. That’s what I’m trying to tell you, Kyren. I’m no longer a mere Omega." [I can’t believe we’re still going through with this... But you’ll need to go slow with him. The information you’re giving is a lot. Even for someone like him.] Elian sighed lightly, lowering his head and brushing his right hand through his white blonde hair. Kyren just stood quietly, not trying to force him to explain further or rush him in any way. That’s one thing he loved about the rogue king. Beneath that dark, predatory exterior, there was a soft side that was willing to be patient with him regardless of his shenanigans. A patience reserved only for him. "Can we take this conversation somewhere private?" Elian finally asked, clasping his hands in front of his face. The silence was thick, the only sounds audible in the large training hall being the slight mechanical whirring from some equipment and Elian’s own heartbeat pressing against his throat. What if he was making a humongous mistake doing this? [You’ve already taken the first step into this insanity. So it might be too late to lie your way out of it.] "Very well then." Kyren nodded, stretching his right hand to his face. "Let’s go to my chambers. But make sure to explain everything from the beginning slowly." Elian forced a smile as he took Kyren’s hand, feeling oddly protected when he did. . . "... So when I got reborn by the moon goddess, I found myself back at the mating ball that night." Elian leaned back on the king-sized bed, twirling the glass of moon dew in his right hand. Meanwhile, Kyren stood by the door silently, the shadows in the room falling over him like a cloak. His crimson eyes were devoid of any emotion at all.
He just watched Elian and waited for him to finish. . Elian didn’t entirely like that because of the awkward silence and the fact that he didn’t know for sure what Kyren was thinking. But like the system mentioned... He’d already set foot into this insanity and might as well go through with it. "It didn’t take long for the system to manifest itself in my mind." Elian wiped a smudge of sweat on his forehead, staring at the glass of moon dew in his hands when Kyren’s gaze became too overwhelming. "It first started with holographic screens that only I could see, showing me my ’physical stats’ in the form of numbers so I know how I stand against normal wolves." Elian smiled slightly when his mind went back. If he was being honest, sometimes he still felt like this was all some kind of dream. It was just too unbelievable to think the moon goddess would choose him of all people with such a gift. [Yeah... I ask myself ’why’ every day as well. Especially now that you’re doing this.] "The system soon gave me my first missions. Each mission would help me in one way or the other to acquire items or points that’ll help me ascend." Elian gulped down the rest of the moon dew, sighing satisfactorily when he set it aside. He raised his head again, smiling at Kyren who finally took a step forward. "Ascend?" Kyren repeated, squinting. "So you mean right now you’re... Beyond the normal physical capabilities of an Omega?" Elian nodded. "I’m currently close to an average wolf. Possibly beyond that if we add some skills like—" "Let’s," Kyren raised his right hand, waving dismissively. Elian’s breath caught in his throat, fearing the worst as Kyren stepped closer until he got in front of him. When the rogue king was before him, he grabbed his jaw with the same tenderness someone would use on an egg. "Let’s not bring out all your cards in the open." Kyren continued, his lips curling into a mischievous smirk. "I like you being mysterious. At least a little bit. It makes unravelling you all the more exciting." Elian swallowed hard, not knowing how to feel about that.
But his cheeks burned when the rogue king suddenly brought his fingers from his chin to his neck, trailing excruciatingly slowly. "All I’m getting from your explanation right now is that the moon goddess..." His fingers stopped at his collarbone, tempting and sending heat through his core. "... Sent you back in time. As a gift. To me." Elian’s brows furrowed. Uh... How the heck did he get THAT? "Your first life ended with the Alpha Prince as your only mate." Kyren chuckled softly, grabbing Elian’s shoulder and forcing him to his feet. Elian nearly stumbled but placed his hands on Kyren’s shoulders for support, his fingers gripping the cold metallic surface of his armour. "Now in this life, not only am I yours as well... But you have Lunaria’s Beta and Alpha Prince after you. Grovelling at your feet." Kyren lowered his head, his lips ghosting across Elian’s neck. The latter shuddered, his knees nearly buckling under the rogue king’s heat. Kyren’s hands found his waist, pulling him closer until his body pressed against his armour—which, side note, was becoming a hindrance. "If that’s not an example of Ascension, I don’t know what is," Kyren whispered, planting a kiss on his neck. "My little flame. You’re the most important thing on this continent." Elian’s shoulder relaxed, his back arching as Kyren’s kisses deepened. [Uhm... Not exactly the reaction I was expecting. But we’ll go with it... I think.]
