Chapter 159: Chapter 135: Do you want to live with us? Although he reeked of alcohol and desperately wanted to take a shower, there was still a woman in the room. What if she rushed in while he was showering? Or what if she woke up when he was changing clothes afterward? It would be embarrassing enough to be seen, but if she misunderstood and thought he was trying to do something, it would be impossible to explain. Even though he clearly knew she liked him, that wasn’t a justification for anything. This wasn’t some TV drama, full of melodramatic scenes every day; he had no interest in such things and hated that kind of trouble.

So, with no other choice, he moved a chair and lay down uncomfortably, planning to make do for the night.

Drowsily, Chu Tian drifted off to sleep, and the room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Time ticked by. Around three in the morning, the person on the bed frowned and turned over. The bed was small, and when Chu Tian had initially placed Xu Qingqiu on it, she was still wearing her shoes; he had simply laid her down diagonally, her head facing inward. Even after he later took off her shoes, he hadn’t moved her.

So, when she turned over now, she fell right off.

CRASH!

Xu Qingqiu landed on the floor. A trash can had toppled onto her head, and her body was on top of what felt like several pairs of shoes.

She rubbed her eyes groggily, surveying her surroundings. Unfortunately, it was too dark in the room to see anything clearly. But from the silhouettes alone, she realized this doesn’t seem like my room, does it? At that thought, she instantly sobered up and scrambled to her feet, her first instinct to find her phone.

Chu Tian, who had been sleeping on the chair opposite the bed, was startled awake the moment she fell. However, because he had slept with his head propped against the chair for several hours, he had a stiff neck. When he tried to lift his head, the pain was so intense he momentarily couldn’t breathe; he was only just now managing to recover.

"Hsss... You’re awake?"

"AHH! Who?! Who are you? Why are you here?"

Damn it! Chu Tian thought, startled by her scream. He quickly stood up. "Don’t! Don’t scream! Why are you screaming in the middle of the night? I’ll turn on the light. Just stop screaming."

Clutching his neck, Chu Tian started towards the light switch. The moment he moved, Xu Qingqiu, who was opposite him, tensed up, unsure what to do. She fumbled on the ground, grabbed a shoe, and held it tightly, staring fixedly ahead. She gritted her teeth, ready to attack if he came closer. How could Chu Tian know what she was thinking? He simply walked past her, heading for the switch.

Although he hadn’t slept well and was still a bit drowsy, this was his room, after all; he knew its general layout even with his eyes closed.

Just as he reached Xu Qingqiu, she unhesitatingly smashed the shoe in her hand at the dark figure before her. As if that wasn’t enough to vent her anger, and as if facing some ferocious beast, she kept striking with the shoe, gritting her teeth and yelling, "Don’t come any closer! Don’t come any closer!"

"I’ll kill you!"

"Kill you!"

Suddenly attacked, Chu Tian gasped in pain, the breath knocked out of him and caught in his chest. It was excruciatingly painful! That wasn’t just any shoe; it was a damn high-heeled shoe! A stiletto, no less! Who the hell could stand being hit by a heel like that? He lunged forward, his fingers finally finding the switch on the wall. He pressed it, and the room was instantly flooded with light.

Having managed that, he finally couldn’t take it anymore and collapsed onto the floor, clutching his leg with one hand and his neck with the other. Pain shot through him; he didn’t dare breathe too deeply and couldn’t even speak.

"Argh... damn it..."

After what felt like an eternity, the worst of the pain subsided. He lay there drenched in cold sweat, eyes closed, gasping heavily.

As for Xu Qingqiu, the sudden bright light startled her. After a brief moment of blindness, she gradually began to make out the scene in the room.

This... this looks somewhat familiar, doesn’t it? Where is this? Confused, she looked towards where she had seen the figure, only to freeze when she saw Chu Tian lying there, his face contorted in pain.

"Chu... Chu Tian?"

"Why are you here?"

Seeing that she was about to approach, Chu Tian, alarmed, quickly waved his hand. "No! Don’t come over! Let me recover a bit..."

"Huh?"

Xu Qingqiu was still perplexed. Then, she glanced down at the high-heeled shoe in her hand, and her face instantly reddened. She hastily dropped the shoe, only then remembering—Hadn’t I smashed him with this thing several times? "Chu Tian, are you all right? I’m sorry, I didn’t know it was you..."

Not thinking about much else, she quickly crawled over, looking at Chu Tian with a guilty expression. Her hands hovered, fidgeting, as she was completely unsure where to touch him, terrified of causing him more pain.

Seeing Chu Tian remain silent for a long moment, she grew anxious, and tears welled up in her eyes. "I’m... I’m sorry! I... I didn’t know it was you! I didn’t do it on purpose!"

Fortunately, Chu Tian had mostly recovered by now. Seeing her distress, he patted her hand reassuringly. "Alright, alright, I’m fine. It’s all good. You could easily fend off several attackers with that move of yours."

He said this because he knew Tongbei Fist, after all, so he had some martial arts foundation. During that exchange just now, logically, he shouldn’t have been injured, because he’d sensed it the moment Xu Qingqiu attacked. But this was his room, and he knew its contents better than anyone. In the position he’d been in, there was a windowsill with a radiator behind him, a chair and table to his right, and Xu Qingqiu to his left. Aside from lunging forward towards the switch, the only way he could have avoided her attack was to kick Xu Qingqiu and knock her out. But could he really do that?
