Chapter 205: The Final Dungeon In the shadows of secrecy, a cryptic figure sought the aid of fearless adventurers. He implored them to embark on a perilous expedition in pursuit of the legendary [Book of Life].
Initially, this quest appeared noble and righteous.
The enigmatic man asserted that unearthing this sacred manuscript was crucial for restoring a once-glorious dwarven stronghold. He dangled the allure of grand rewards and noble titles to those who would succeed.
However, beneath the veneer of virtue lurked a sinister scheme.
The truth concealed behind the facade was unveiled: the mysterious man was a fervent follower of a vampire ruler, and his true objective was to deceive the brave travelers.
The elusive [Book of Life] was nothing more than a fabrication. His sole purpose was to manipulate these courageous souls into unwittingly breaking the spell that bound his master.
The tale commenced with the initial dwarven ruler, a man consumed by an insatiable thirst for power and boundless avarice.
To achieve immortality, he willingly embraced the darkness and transformed himself into a vampire.
Under the tyrannical rule of the king, the nation suffered through an era of bloodshed and despair, shattering countless lives.
Authorities intervened, employing a potent enchantment to subdue the oppressive ruler. He was confined within The Bizarre Tower, a foreboding edifice, his fate entwined with the tower’s enigmatic secrets.
Now, courageous adventurers embark on a quest, daring the tower’s cryptic challenges and imminent dangers.
Their mission: to locate the elusive [Book of Life], purportedly buried with the initial dwarven monarch. With the book in hand, they hope to resurrect the dwarven fortress, restoring it to its former grandeur.
Or so they believe!
Caution was paramount, for the tower concealed more than mere traps. Explorers must navigate its treacherous depths by solving puzzles, activating ancient contraptions, and unveiling hidden passages.
The book, they say, was safeguarded by the tower’s mysteries, accessible only to the worthy.
As the citadel thrives once more, those who aided in its restoration stand to share in its newfound wealth.
Explorers could anticipate a share of the treasure, and those instrumental in the fortress’s repair might earn prestigious titles, bestowing both reputation and influence.
As the adventurers approached the burial room, the challenges within the tower intensified, growing ever more perilous. Caution became their guiding principle.
The tower’s design confounded logic, filled with peculiar chambers and mysterious contraptions awaiting comprehension.
Monstrous remnants from the era of the first dwarven king posed an ongoing threat within the tower’s confines.
This information was the essence of what Victor had briefed them about regarding the final dungeon.
The rules remained consistent, each group comprising five members. They were transported to different dimensions, albeit arriving in identical rooms, ensuring their isolation.
However, this time, only items from their inventories could be utilized.
Hence, Xin’s group had diligently prepared their arsenal in advance.
"Is there a vampire race in existence currently?" Xin inquired.
Victor and Rever shook their heads simultaneously.
"To my knowledge, such a race doesn’t exist," Rever replied.
"They’re likely still working on it, considering they’ve introduced it to this dungeon," Victor added.
Yuzuro joined the conversation excitedly. "It would be fantastic if it happens. Vampires are truly captivating and exquisite beings!"
Rever chuckled softly. "Are these the vampires you’ve read about in romance novels?"
Yuzuro pouted in response. "All vampires are depicted as beautiful."
Rever placed a hand behind his back, his tone teasing. "They won’t seem beautiful once you realize they’re centuries-old corpses, ready to suck you dry."
"S-suck . . . ?" Yuzuro squealed in romantic affections, the memory of Edward sinking his fangs into Bella flooding her mind. It made her consider logging out to finish the novel.
Meanwhile, Xin’s group reached the Shapeshifter Mirage, the first floor of the Bizarre Tower.
Entering the Shapeshifter Mirage, they were greeted by a haunting atmosphere. Dimly lit torches cast flickering shadows on the walls, revealing two lifelike statues standing tall in the room.
The air felt heavy with a sense of foreboding; it was as if the walls themselves were concealing something ominous, shrouding the area in an eerie aura.
Before the group’s weary footsteps could fade beyond the doorway, an astonishing transformation occurred, ensnaring them within the confines of the Shapeshifter Mirage.
The Mirage was a realm of enigmas where the air crackled with unsettling energy, the surroundings continuously morphing and contorting, drawing the unsuspecting into a chaotic dance of perception.
Stability vanished as the walls became mercurial, distorting reality itself. Even ordinary objects turned treacherous in this simulated environment.
Furniture, tapestries, and fixtures in the chamber concealed their true nature, ready to unveil themselves as deceptive adversaries. The room shifted and ensnared its visitors.
"What kind of dungeon is this?" Yuzuro exclaimed, her voice trembling with unease.
Rever’s eyes darted around. "Everything is in constant motion. It’s giving me a headache!"
"We must grasp the illusions of the mirage," Victor explained. "With the door closed, our only escape lies in unraveling the tower’s ultimate truth on the floors below."
"Let’s go." Xin took the lead, guiding them toward the first room.
As they entered, the heavy metallic door was sealed shut with a muted click that reverberated through the space.
Realization settled upon them –– there was no way back. They had to move forward, delving into the mysteries that lay ahead.
Onwards, two more doors stood, each guarding a secret.
Unexpectedly, the once unremarkable female statue came to life, revealing a Bearded Devil emerging from within.
The Mirage held not only illusions but tangible threats, forcing the group to confront dangers beyond mere imagination.
The once-solid stone constructions shattered into pieces, unveiling a horrifying monster ready to confront the intruders.
The Bearded Devil lunged at Xin and the others, its hostile intentions unmistakable.
"A foe right from the start?!" Rever exclaimed in astonishment, swiftly transforming into his beastly form to intercept the creature’s attack, shielding Xin and Yuzuro from harm.
"This being the final dungeon, enemies will confront us at every corner," Victor cautioned, his voice carrying a warning. "Watch your Health and Mana Points carefully. Our resources are limited here!"
Xin and the others found themselves thrust into an immediate battle with the Bearded Devil.
