Chapter 105: Attempting a Dungeon In the expansive and dynamic virtual world of Eternia, Xin found himself immersed in the vibrant and bustling Dwarven Continent in Ironpeak.

As he stood amidst the flurry of activity, the scent of molten metal hung in the air, blending harmoniously with the rhythmic symphony of blacksmiths’ hammers striking anvils.

The atmosphere was an enchanting mix of industry and invitation, drawing players and NPCs alike into its embrace.

With a sense of anticipation, Xin awaited the arrival of his friend, Victor, along with Rever and Yuzuro. He had promised them that they would play the game, so this was his chance.

The expanse of Ironpeak stretched before him, its intricately designed architecture and lively inhabitants creating an immersive experience that bridged the gap between the virtual and the real.

Soon enough, Grey Smoke materialized before him. Xin’s eyes widened, momentarily taken aback by Victor’s appearance.

Victor was no longer the familiar figure he had known. Instead, Grey Smoke, Victor’s avatar, a Halfling, stood before him, clad in a striking suit of all-white armor that seemed to shimmer with an ethereal glow.

Grey Smoke’s hair, a luxurious shade of grey, framed his face in artful disarray. Two long, elegantly curved horns adorned his forehead, an unusual yet captivating feature that added an air of mystique to his appearance.

But it was his eyes that truly held Xin’s attention –– crimson slits that seemed to blaze with constant amusement like the world was a joke to him.

With an aura of confidence and power, Grey Smoke carried himself with an air that Xin recognized from even meters away.

It was the unmistakable bearing of a top-tier player, someone who had traversed the virtual landscapes with skill and mastery.

As Xin observed Victor’s avatar, a mixture of admiration and appreciation filled his thoughts. "A top player’s aura really is different," he murmured to himself, acknowledging the presence that Victor exuded.

As Victor approached, Xin’s lips curved slightly into a welcoming smile, his eyes locking onto Victor’s.

Their meeting was accompanied by Victor refraining from laughing as he studied Xin’s appearance.

"You really chose a cat as a race?" Victor stifled a laugh.

Xin was starting to regret his decision to be a cat solely because others were constantly questioning his choices.

"What’s wrong with a cat? Rather, you even chose a Halfling."

"Halflings are known for their agility and nimbleness. Their small size allows them to excel in tasks requiring dexterity, such as picking locks or evading enemies," Victor explained. "They’re often used as rogues and assassins."

"Is that right?" Xin wasn’t interested, and it showed on his face and tone.

Victor only laughed at Xin’s lack of interest.

"Where’s Patrick?" Xin asked as they moved along the streets of Ironpeak.

"Couldn’t make it. He said he had a lot of assignments to do for tomorrow."

As they found a relatively quieter corner to talk, Victor leaned casually against a stone wall and asked, "So, now that you’ve ventured into Eternia, what’s the plan?"

Xin’s eyes held a spark of eagerness, his avatar’s gaze locking onto Victor’s. "I want to familiarize myself with the world first."

Victor’s smile was warm, a hint of mischief dancing in his eyes. "That’s the spirit. Well, the world of Eternia is your oyster, my friend. We have a bunch of options at our disposal."

Xin’s curiosity was piqued. "Such as?"

Victor’s finger tapped his chin thoughtfully. "First up, we’ve got dungeons. They’re excellent for leveling up and obtaining rare items. We could tackle some lower-level ones to ease you into it."

Xin nodded, his interest evident. "Sounds like a good start. But I’m not looking for just easy tasks. I want something challenging."

Victor’s grin widened. "I like your enthusiasm. Alright, then, we could take on some tougher dungeons. But remember, though it would be hard, the rewards will be worth the effort."

Xin’s eyes glinted. "That’s what I’m after –– challenges that come with great rewards."

Victor’s gaze turned contemplative, his finger gently tapping his chin. "In that case, how about embarking on a legendary quest line? They often involve intricate puzzles, epic battles, and fantastic lore. Plus, the rewards can be game-changing."

Xin’s interest deepened. "Legendary quest lines? Tell me more."

As they delved into their discussion, the ambiance of Ironpeak seemed to fade into the background. The world of Eternia enveloped them, offering a myriad of possibilities and adventures waiting to be explored.

Victor’s voice exuded the eagerness of an experienced adventurer, a spark of excitement igniting his words. "Since we find ourselves within the Dwarven Continent, why not take on the challenge of clearing the four quests associated with The Abandoned Dwarven Fortress?"

Xin’s gaze remained fixed upon Victor, his curiosity piqued. "I’m all ears. Tell me more."

A confident smile curved across Victor’s face as he delved into the details. "These quests are an interconnected series, each leading to the next, and they involve exploring the depths of The Abandoned Dwarven fortress.

"The catch is that there are four dungeons, each progressively more challenging than the last. This whole scenario is a recent addition by the game developers, and interestingly, no player or guild has yet successfully cleared the fourth dungeon due to its difficulty and stringent player limit."

Xin’s contemplative expression showed that he was absorbing the information. "So, there are no level restrictions for attempting this?"

Victor shook his head. "Correct. There are no specific level requirements, but it’s generally recommended to attempt it at level eighty or higher. Also, keep in mind that the maximum number of players allowed for this quest is limited to five."

Xin’s understanding was evident. "Understood.

"So, to achieve ’firstblood,’ we need to complete all four quests centered on The Abandoned Dwarven Fortress?"

Victor affirmed Xin’s understanding with a nod.

"Exactly. These quests are intricately tied to the history of The Abandoned Dwarven Fortress. By successfully completing all four, you earn the distinction of being the first to conquer this challenge and earn enormous rewards."

Xin’s acknowledgment was a nod. "Got it."

A glint of intrigue danced in Xin’s eyes as he posed another question. "But are the rewards worth it?"

Victor’s response was a candid grin. "It’s reputed to be a formidable challenge, but the rewards it offers are undoubtedly worth the effort."

Xin’s curiosity leaned further into the conversation. "Have you ventured into this fortress yourself?"

Victor shook his head. "Not yet. I’ve been occupied with other dungeons and quests. Besides, I tend to be cautious, even with my carefree persona. A new dungeon with limited information isn’t quite up my alley."

"Then . . ."

Victor’s smile held reassurance, reading Xin’s thoughts. "Don’t worry. If you’re interested in tackling this dungeon, I’m game to join you. My curiosity has definitely been piqued, and there’s no thrill in revisiting dungeons I’ve already conquered. Exploring uncharted territories is where the real excitement lies."

Xin made up his mind. "Then . . . let’s try this fortress."

Victor’s laughter was hearty. "I knew you’d be up for the challenge. Legendary quests it is, then. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure, my friend."
